Ruptured Appendicitis Leading to Development of a Tubo-Ovarian Abscess in a Non-sexually Active Adolescent Patient

Tubo-ovarian abscesses (TOA) are commonly associated with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) caused by sexually transmitted infections (STI). There have been several reports of adolescent non-sexually active female patients diagnosed TOAs. Symptoms TOAs often mimic appendicitis and as such. We present a case 12-year-old who was initially ruptured found to TOA engulfing the appendix.
